Quick post - awesome iPhone app!

February 5th, 2009

BeejiveIM: best IM app for iPod Touch/iPhone users ever.

I was hesitant about spending the $16 for it having come from using Pidgin on Linux for a long time (GAIM anyone?); but I firmly recommend it for anyone that needs a mobile IM solution.

In other news, been working like a madman and this is the first night I’ve not worked till 3 AM in a while. My home desktop is down, so I hope to complete the tutorial post as soon as it’s replaced. Keep your stick on the ice.

Audio clip, transportation, and a few goodbyes

January 17th, 2009

I recently purchased some audio recording hardware from Behringer, if only for the fact that it was an awesome deal going on. I recorded a reading of chapter one from “The Restaurant at the End of the Universe” by Douglas Adams, which will be uploaded as mp3 shortly.

Next, my friend just bought a car, so I will be taking his old one. Expect photos for before and after pictures, I have “plans” in store for this Cavalier while my Talon is still being repaired.

I have two farewells to announce, one of which being why I have been quiet as of late. I would like to say goodbye toy grandfather, Robert. He passed away on December 28th, 2008; You will be missed.
Also, said friend that bought the new car is moving to his new house. Still has a lot of work to do, but it will be great when he’s finished! Congrats Zach.

So far it’s been a busy start to the new year, hope everyone else has had a good one.

The touch of electronic love

January 4th, 2009

Sounds a bit risqué I know, but I assure you it’s perfectly innocent. I bought an iPod Touch. My first official download was the Pandora App. I still haven’t sync’ed any music to the device yet and I can rock out with hundreds of songs.

Expect wallpapers to be uploaded, with resolutions for the iPod Touch, PSP, and standard desktop machines. Also, a post on abstract vector design in Inkscape is in the works; that should be up (ideally) before the weeks end on the 10th.

A Quick Fix…

December 22nd, 2008

No, there is no Paulie Cantenelli (or however the developers spelled that name) here. Just finished helping a friend out with reloading Windows.

I’m more thoroughly convinced that Linux is the way to go, after several annoying driver quirks in Windows. Go figure, not too long ago it was the other way around. Take that Bill Gates!

Quick Post - Theme Maintenance

Noticed commenting was disabled in the Gray Minimalist theme, that will be corrected in the next rollout. Meanwhile, enjoy the ugly default. :p

Gray Minimalist WordPress theme

December 15th, 2008

Anyone who saw the old layout for AkoiMeexx.com probably thought it was contrived while I was on drugs. I can assure you it wasn’t, but looking back I have to wonder where my grip on reality had gone. When I started thinking about remodelling the site (and what I wanted to accomplish with it), I came to the conclusion that a simpler, more concise layout was in order.

However, I’ve never been a fan of using others’ work for my own.

Gray Minimalist started out as a static html document of what I wanted as far as the look and feel of my website. It’s basic and simple, because we have a tendancy to overcomplicate anything technological and that usually leads to messes. There are still a few things I would change about the theme, and as I delve more into the workings of WordPress I will update the files accordingly. But for now, I’d like to share the theme files with anyone who would like to use it. It’s free for modification under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, and license information can be found in the style.css file.

Download Gray Minimalist here.

A fresh start

December 15th, 2008

After much fussing and fiddling, I’ve finally loaded up a new version of AkoiMeexx.com. Check back for commentaries, projects, files… generally anything that happens to catch my fancy as I figure my way out through this game of life. Also, feedback on the new layout would be greatly appreciated.

It’s good to be back.
